Flannels withdraws fur after complaints
Flannels
is a chain of fashion shops with outlets across the North and the Midlands,
as well as a shop in South Wales.
After finding fur in their shops, CAFT contacted the company to point out the cruelty of the fur trade and asked them to withdraw fur. We also pointed out their previous fur-free policy following an earlier campaign.
After receiving no reply, we urged supporters to contact the company. Less than 24 hours later, the company released the following statement.

Dear All,
It is Flannels company policy not to sell fur. In the past, we have
discontinued the trading of brands and products that have any
connection with the use of animal fur. Quite often some suppliers are
not giving us the reality of the products they are selling. We
recognise we need to be more vigilant in this area. We have returned
products back to our suppliers where animal fur is applicable. We
sincerely apologise for any offence taken regarding this matter.
Yours sincerely,
The Flannels Group

Firstly please contact Flannels to congratulate them on this policy.
More importantly this shows 3 things.
a) How easy it is for fur to creep back in once a campaign is finished.
b) How important it is to be vigilant and to keep us informed about shops
selling fur.
c) How effective we can be simply by contacting companies selling fur.
