London Activists join Escada Campaign
London activists joined in the first weekend of action against Escada, with a protest at Escada´s Sloane St shop in the upmarket Knightsbridge area of the city. Around 25 protesters working on a rota kept up a presence outside the shop for the whole afternoon, holding placards and giving out leaflets asking people to boycott Escada.
Lots of support from members of the public, both pedestrians and passing vehicles, and quite a few potential customers were persuaded to shop elsewhere. The shop staff were at first puzzled, but later they became abusive as the customers dried up, one came out and referred to a protester as "bastard".
Towards the end they made a big effort to appear like they were not bothered, saying we should bring more people. We´ve seen these desperate mood changes before!!
We´ll be back again here and at other stores to support the campaign ´til Escada goes fur-free.
